چکیده

Abstract In agriculture, agroclimatic zoning procedures through geographic information systems provide producers, technical assistants, decision‐makers, and investors with land‐use planning decision‐making tools. This study aims at identifying delimiting areas suitable for the cultivation of rubber [ Hevea brasiliensis Willd. ex A. Juss.) Müll. Arg.] in Colombia, using species requirements a scale 1:100,000, as well escape zones South American leaf blight (SALB) disease (caused by fungus Pseudocercospora ulei ). The was carried out following agroecological methodology definition land use proposed Food Agriculture Organization United Nations. Spatial analysis tools were used to raster data ArcGIS Desktop 10.7, incorporating evaluating climatic soil variables. obtained results showed that there are 5,480,543 ha cultivating natural Colombia. However, these present favorable conditions development SALB.

Erasing the Past: A New Identity for the Damoclean Pathogen Causing South American Leaf Blight of Rubber

BACKGROUND South American leaf blight (SALB) of rubber has been the main constraint to production in its neotropical centre of origin since commercial plantations were first established. The fungal causal agent was identified and described more than a century ago but its precise placement within the Ascomycota still remains uncertain. Indeed, such is the ambiguity surrounding the pathogen that ...

Neofusicoccum ribis Associated with Leaf Blight on Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) in Peninsular Malaysia

Hevea brasiliensis is a natural source of rubber and an important plantation tree species in Malaysia. Leaf blight disease caused by Fusicoccum substantially reduces the growth and performance of H. brasiliensis. The aim of this study was to use a combination of both morphological characteristics and molecular data to clarify the taxonomic position of the fungus associated with leaf blight dise...
